What are the Commander Game Changers?

Game Changers are a key aspect of the new bracket system currently being tested by Wizards of the Coast.

These powerful cards have a significant impact on Commander games, whether by allowing players to accumulate resources rapidly, altering gameplay in ways that some find frustrating, restricting others from fully participating, enabling highly efficient searches for top-tier cards, or being commanders that often encourage strategies that detract from more casual play.

  • Bracket 1 (Exhibition) and Bracket 2 (Core) decks typically steer clear of game-defining cards.
  • Bracket 3 (Upgraded) decks may include up to three of them.
  • Bracket 4 (Optimized) and Bracket 5 (cEDH) decks have no restrictions on their use.
